$900 for a new rack

Argh! Heard a "thunk" and the power steering went out. Evidently the pump blew out and all sorts of havoc ensued. Now I need a new power steering fluid pump and a new rack.

Aaarrrgh -- for that, I could get a new rack myself.

Never had that happen. And i drive cars until their just about falling apart. I don't trade them in. I just drive them until the wheels fall off, but i've never had that happen.

Did you hit a big pothole or something in the past? At least that you remember, or is just bad luck?

Either way, that's a bummer. 9 bills is a major repair expense.
