Are you prejudiced against "slow talkers?" |

Do you get irritated when people take 5 minutes to say something that should usually take 1 minute? (Not referring to stuttering)

1. No, but when I lived in SC people would tell me to slow down |
|
I was talking too fast. Of course, they also said that I didn't sound like I was from Texas...whatever the fuck that sounds like!

I enunciate well, but I tend to talk quickly (occupational hazard). I get very impatient when talking to people who take forever to finish a thought.

5. No, it's the "close talkers" that get me. |

7. Yes! Those people kill me! |

Sometimes a conversation will just be going along smoothly and then a person who talks slowly and quietly will come in and ruin it! I think these people should have their tongues cut out, or people should just ignore them until they learn to stop ruining conversations!

8. What do you call it when |

someone starts a sentence, then stops and more or less repeats the first few words, then inches a few words forward, goes back again and then finishes the sentence? It's like stuttering on whole sentences rather than on words. Is there a word for that or is it just stuttering? I know someone who does that.

I loved living in NYC because, at last, I was among people who speak as quickly as I do.

10. I am, but I think that's because of my job. |

It's hard enough to figure out what people did to their computers (especially after they either lie about it or leave out the one detail that makes them look bad. . . and that I need to know). But when someone spends 7 minutes of my time telling me that they just maybe sorta might have deleted their emails when they could have said it in 20 seconds then yes, I get annoyed.

11. It's the "set up the story" talkers that make me nuts |
|
I want the bottom line, not the detailed description about all their feeling, emotions, color of the sky, genetic reasonings bla bla bla. People can talk slow, as long as they keep it to the point. If I want a story, I'll read Stephen King.

12. Not so much prejudiced, but it does get on my nerves. |

I know some people here who could talk pain off a car, and they are slow talkers to boot. One of them was desperately trying to be my friend, but the position is filled. I just don't have time for more than three or four good friends. Isn't that just so evil of me?
