GD is depressing
Not for the candidate flaming.

Just the news in general.

How much worse are things really going to get?

I'm going to live in ignorant bliss for a while... I suppose some prozac wouldn't hurt either. :-)

1. I think we have some fresh trolls over there
Mr. or Ms. preocupied comes to mind. And a few others. As long as there's feces-flinging over there, I'm sticking to the Lounge.

5. I just post one or two comments
in a GD thread, and then get the hell out.

3. I think it's kind of funny
That so many people on DU assume that Southerners sit around eating grits, and highlighting passages from Gone with the Wind.

Useless to argue with them, too; however, I would love to see some DUers print up pamplets with excerpts from Zinn and Chomsky writings, and pass them out at Nascar races. Those people need to be educated!

GD has always been about flame wars, btw.

4. I never liked grits
Sorry. :D

(oh, please Deity-Of-My-Choice, let this not precipitate a grain-based flamefest)

Banana pudding, though...mmmmmm....right there, alone, Southern cuisine entirely redeems itself.

The ongoing (un-)Civil War does seem to be a repeated (and repeated and repeated) them in GD, alongside clashes between misogynists and radical feminists (and lesser degrees of both) and endless threads bashong one or another candidate. End result is that I can't stand GD most of the time these days.

Oh, I like fried okra a lot, too, with ranch dressing as a dip. And BBQ chicken, with the beans and the...oh, man, I'm starving now...

6. This German loves grits
I couldn't get enough of them when I first moved to the south, Georgia specifically.

Luckily here in Virginia, grits aren't hard to find.
