Poll question: Have you ever run on a moving sidewalk? |
|
I did - you have to be careful when you hit the end of it!

9. Did you get lost at Phoenix airport perhaps? |
|
Considering that it's pretty much all moving walkways and pretty much all gates point to America West planes, you have to run on those things.

4. Then stepping off is such a weird sensation. |
|
Like the ground should still be moving, but it's not.

5. Yes, to catch a plane like you. I made it though. The funny thing |
|
was -- it was an international flight, I had to go through security and thus had to take off my shoes. As I cleared security, I didn't even put the shoes back on. Just took off running to the gate to hold the plane for me and others. Running on those people movers in socks REALLY HURTS!
Yes, we made the plane. They had closed the doors, but the plane had not pulled out yet. Sorry you didn't make yours.

They changed the gate that our plane at the connecting airport was at. We were waiting at a gate at one end of the airport. Fifteen minutes before the plane was supposed to take off, no one was there. We asked someone at a nearby counter (same airline). "Oh, they changed the gate. It is at the other end of the airport a mile away. You'll never make that flight. The next flight for destination city leaves at (too late for our purposes). My mother was getting married that afternoon and I was supposed to be the maid of honor. The reason that we weren't there earlier because a good friend of mine had gotten married the night before. I took off running. I took all the moving walks that didn't have people on them. Even though I had started to get out of shape, I made it to the gate in less than 7 minutes. Then I had to explain to the person at the gate why they needed to hold the plane and let my husband and I board. My husband was several minutes behind with a couple of bags. Luckily, they let us on. Ever since then, I always check the monitors compulsively for changes if I am at a connecting airport until the sign by that door has my destination city with the time.

10. Many times. In fact, just two weeks ago I would have missed my flight |
|
had I not run down the hallways and on the moving sidewalks, knocking over several elderly and small children along the way. But hey - I caught my flight!
