The State of Kentucky is about to make me homeless (and w/o a car)!!
ARRRRGGH!!!

Now, first off, this all started from something that is purely my fault. I wasn't paying taxes properly back when I was self-employed and had my own business. I owe the state a fair amount of money but nothing that couldn't handled via a payment plan over a few years.

Well, the State of Kentucky only accepts payment plans of up to 12 months. Well, my income now is less than 1/2 of what it used to be. Coupled with rent, car payment, car insurance, groceries, clothes, and medical bills up the wazoo (from my daughter who's been diagnosed with a couple of conditions) and I don't have a lot left over.

I submitted an offer to the State last year but it was rejected, apparently over some missing documentation on my end. Well, I have sent them another offer with ALL supporting documentation and they are still pursuing putting a levy on my paychecks that will leave me with only $250 every two weeks!

That means, immediately, I'll have to move out of my apartment and find someplace to live and probably another place to put all of my stuff (of course, this will cost money to move). Then, once my car payment goes beyond 30 days late, they'll start repossession proceedings, I'm sure. I can't file bankruptcy as I already did after I spent 7 months unemployed and when I got the new job, I couldn't handle the debt load.

I've been dealing w/an ombudsman for about a week but he's been slow moving and I only have until the end of business tomorrow to get this levy stopped.

I just cannot believe the government is going to LITERALLY make me homeless and then soon thereafter, be without transportation. At that point, well, bye-bye job and then I'm on welfare and sucking money out of the state instead of paying into it.

How in the hell does this make sense?!?!?

ARRRRRGGHHH!!!!

Sorry for the rant but I just can't fucking believe this is happening.

1. The ombudsman is going to talk to those in collections
Seems the levy can't be lifted until an offer is "accepted". Well, that could take 2-3 months. He's going to try and expedite the review and talk to someone higher up.

Time to get ahold of a tax atty, too, but I doubt they could do anything.

2. This country has declared war on anyone who is struggling,
while the obsenely wealthy continue to rake it in via Halliburton type sweet deals. Something is disgustingly out of balance in the US.
