Any A/V experts in the lounge? Need advice |
|
I am looking for a new reciever / amplifier for my parents' sound system since their Denon is giving me weird feedback at random intervals. What's a good replacement?

2. Have to agree with the Denon |
|
Bought my Denon receiver after my 1st wife & I split.
It's now been playing strong for 15 years and never a problem.
Come to think of it, even my 2nd marriage has been going strong now for 9 years. Must be due to the Denon.

4. How much do they cost? |
|
I guess I should've mentioned a price range - between $1000 and $2000.

some say that it doesn't have as warm a sound as some more expensive recievers.
"bullshit," I say. "Buy speakers with flatter response and things won't sound so fucking tinny!" But everyone has their preferences. For the record I listen through Polk Audio RT55i mains, with an SVS PB-10 subwoofer (my center and surround speakers are also Polk Audios).
The DA2 may be a discontinued model, I did get it about 3 years ago. But the whole ES line is worth a serious look, IMHO.

9. I'm going to go head down to my local Good Guys tomorrow |
|
And check it out. I'll be sure to bring some CDs with me.
I'm not sure what speakers my parents have, though.
