Is Aberdeen, WA the most depressing place on Earth? |
|
Seems like everytime I go there, irregardless of whether its Summer, Fall, etc...it's always overcast, and miserable. And this is on days that Seattle has sunny weather.
And all of the houses look like government projects, and everyone there just looks spent.

1. What I find depressing about Aberdeen is that nobody there |
|
knows that Robert Motherwell was born there.
They do all know that Kurt Cobain is from there, though.
I know a very smart Seattle lawyer from Aberdeen. She's staying in Seattle.
Better than Aberdeen is Winlock, home of the world's largest egg. Unfortunately, the pseudo-patriots of Winlock have attempted with paint to make the big egg resemble an American flag. In the process, they have desecrated both the flag and the egg.

7. Okay, I was PMd by somebody who may or may not be from |
|
Aberdeen, but who claims to know that Robert Motherwell was born in Aberdeen. If I verify that this person is from Aberdeen, I will no longer find Aberdeen depressing. I'll keep you posted.

"It can be sunny everywhere else in the northwest and still overcast in Aberdeen."
That's the cliche, but the reports I get from residents seem to match it pretty well.

8. If you think it's bad now... |
|
You should have seen it shortly after all the logging jobs left. I lived near there as a kid, it was a decent town. Great public library. Some neat scenery. It's on the coast so yeah, it does get a lot of rain.
To answer the question about suicide- I think they've had a ridiculously high number of teenage suicide pacts.

and teen-angst as a music style. now you know what Kurt Cobain was complaining about, he lived under a bridge in that city for awhile. i think that would kinda suck.
