Who's got a good idea about how to store Playbills? |
|
Ok, I admit right up front, I'm completely anal and I MUST keep all of the programs of the shows and plays I attend. And, I get to keep these because I just threw out four years of unread magazines. So I have already made my sacrifice to the Packrat Gods! :P For awhile I just settled for tossing 'em in a box, but that just seems kind of disorganized to me. Right now I'm experimenting with putting 'em in those plastic sleeves and putting them in a binder. Thing is, I attend a LOT of shows -- easily this is 20 or 30 programs a year. I'm just now back to 2000 and I have two fat binders worth. The box is certainly more spacesaving but it doesn't cater to my anal-retentive desire to keep things in chronological order. Anyway, I thought I'd ask the all-knowing DU oracles. Got any ideas?

1. plastic sleeves aren't good |
|
if you want to store them, use mylar sleeves--the plastic degrades and the gas released can damage the paper
you can get them at any good comic book store
while you're there, talk to the clerks about storing them
they'll have a pretty good idea of how to do without taking up too much space

I have all of mine in comic book sleeves with boards...then neatly in a comic book cardboard box....and in a plastic foot locker...I have thousands of playbills, then again, I also work at a theatre. Too many playbills!

2. If you really want to be hardcore, scan them all first |
|
and burn them to a cd and then you can keep them in the page protectors or a box and you won't have to handle them every time you want to look at them. obviously, keep them in darkness as much as possible to prevent fading.

7. you could get rid of a few thousand of your copies of Catcher in the |

Rye, which would create some room while still leaving you with a few thousand backup copies

Work, travel, house, the usual fun round. Hey, I took the LSAT last fall! I'm thinking about applying for law school to go in fall 06. I need to save up some $$$ first. Where are you thinking of going?

13. Well, I'm probably gonna stay put here. |
|
Job, house, family are here, stuff like that. I'd drop back to a four day workweek and go to night school. So I'd have two choices: SMU and there's another night school in Ft. Worth. I think I can get into SMU with my LSAT and undergrad GPA, right now I'm just going back and forth as to whether or not I really want to put myself thorough all that. It's probably time for a career change, but I'd like to get into something else without four years of living hell if I can avoid it. :P
How about you, would you go full-time if you could?

14. i'd go full-time without a doubt. |
|
i'm 26 now, and wouldn't start until i was at least 28, so i guess that would put me out of school by 31 or 32 (not too bad). we'll see, it depends on what career choices/options i have in the next year or two :D

I'm 10 years older than you are. If I were that age I'd go full time too. I think it would be a GREAT experience, honestly. Right now, though, I really don't want to go full time and either tap into the nest egg or go into debt. I think I could get through the four years debt free if I worked -- so that's how I'd do it.
