word to the wise - if you got child porn on your computer,
DO NOT take it to CompUSA! :eyes:

Marine arrested on porn charges
Tampa police say they found pornographic pictures and videos of children on a computer owned by the 24-year-old sergeant.
By SHANNON COLAVECCHIO-VAN SICKLER, Times Staff Writer
Published June 30, 2005

TAMPA - Nine months after Tampa Police detectives seized Cody L. Liberty's two laptop computers, they have arrested him on 11 felony counts of possessing child pornography.

Liberty, a 24-year-old U.S. Marine Corps sergeant assigned to U.S. Central Command, was taken into custody Thursday at MacDill Air Force Base and booked into the Orient Road jail shortly after 9 a.m.

He remains in jail in lieu of $27,500 bail, jail records show.

Tampa Police spokesman Joe Durkin said detectives began their investigation of Liberty in October, after a call from a technician for CompUSA at 701 N Dale Mabry Hwy.

The technician was transferring data between Liberty's HP and Compaq laptops, at Liberty's request, when he found pornographic images of children on the laptops, Durkin said.

12. if...
somehow, i think the nazipoos (hell any good hacker) can put stuff on a online connected computer, then erase the linkage so noone knows it's there, until maybe(?)....i fear they use this 'child porn' stuff to destroy people they dinnae like....call me paranoid.
>child 'porn' or abuse is a threatening subject, because ...well 'high winds in jamaica' and 'treasure island' not to mention 'adventures of huck finn' etc couldn't be written today- children in close quarters with strange men ....i know one thing. piggy gives a shit about nothing but his self, and piggy uses anything to advance his own interest....including drugs and child porn, terror and issues like abortion, sanctity of life etc.....the basic dishonesty of them criminal bastards cannot be doubted, and giving them power to police is bs...if anyone knows anyone involved in child porn etc just spot the person and leave the grunting pig outta it (though most child porn users probably rw piggies anyway)

14. We are talking about child porn.
People who have that should be arrested. If the pictures are of adults, then fine.

15. my question is

how can they prove that the owner of the pc was the one that was looking at the child porn? Couldn't anyone with access to the computer be responsible?

Get a butcher knife and open up your stomach to explore what is inside of you, literally.

17. before you all lynch the guy
how about reading the article? not directed at the OP but the responses in general.

"Analysts there found "hundreds of videos and pictures" on the hard drives - including several pictures and videos of children engaging in sexual acts, according to Durkin."

the guy had hundreds of legit porn, and "several" not hundreds or thousands of "child porn" pics or movies. he might be into kiddie porn, but with only "several" images, my guess would be 11, given the 11 counts, odds lean towards an ordinary porn enthusiast who accidentally downloaded something he shouldn't have, causing his computer to crash, as can happen when surfing some shady porn sites. now is where DUers should be taking issue, with the repair person, WHAT THE HELL was he doing looking at pictures and movies on a customers computer?

FUCK! they are infringing our rights but using "morals" as the excuse instead of terrorism this time around! just last week DU talked about the few that would not sign the lynching apology bill, and here we are, GUILTY! from a single short Florida newspaper article.

if somebody feels like getting worked up over child porn, how about finding out the follow up to the guy busted a week or three ago who they claimed to have had "thousands" of possible victims? that one seems to kind have disappeared from the news

18. most states require a check when
computer repair/file transfer is being done, or if they happen upon it. i cant remember the specifics but in some places they actuially have to check the computer for such contents. at the very least they are obligated to report it if they find something - regardless of their method of discovery.

the guy asked for his files transfered to his new computer, if i remember correctly, so he kinda asked him to go into his files at any rate.

19. I tried to warn some friends when the R. Kelley stuff was
making it's rounds on the internet. The girls were underage, so it is considered child porn.

I heard it was going around, and warned a friend NOT to open that crap, as it would be on her hard drive. Some people were sending it off to all their friends(I have no idea why).

So gross and so wrong.
