Instantly Homeless: Little Boy

Instantly homeless: Seven-year-old Malvern Chishazhe cries after government bulldozers razed his his family's shantytown home in Porta Farm, Zimbabwe. Operation Murambatsvina, or "Drive Out Trash," has left between 200,000 and 1.5 million Zimbabweans without homes or livelihoods. Vegetable gardens and street markets have also been demolished.

1. Oh, jeez, I've spent some time away from DU and this is the first
post I click on upon my return.

How incredibly tragic. Things like this make me wish I didn't give a damn about others--life would be so much easier.

May God bless you and your family, dear Malvern. I cry for you. I wish my tears could help you, but that's all I know to do now.

3. This is absolutely horrible.
Drive out the trash? Are they thinking where this "trash" is going to go?
What is going to happen to all this "trash"?

6. Oh, man, photos like that just tear me up
I have a lot of compassion for people in general anyway but to see children trapped in this crap just destroys me. A little boy shouldn't have to feel the way that little boy is so obviously feeling right now.
