|
If they're on Larry King, their Trash Movie will be that Sunday
I will mark my calendar for November 9th,
This one looks like a 2 BigCookieBag event

5. I hope you'll understand that I can't respond to your insult |
|
Please don't take it personally, it is just my personal preference, no value judgment intended.
While I'm not able to respond to ad hom attacks, what I can tell you is that it is hardly insulting to the girl to refer to a made for tv movie about her as trash.
It is my understanding that the girl is a minor, and as such I would not hold her responsible for making the movie.
Do you?

7. Well, you didn't phrase it too well... |
|
Your subject heading made it seem like you were calling Elizabeth Smart, not the film, "Badtrash."

8. Adjectives modify nouns. Doesnt English put them before the noun modified? |
|
If I had wanted to insult her, which I don't, wouldn't I have put an adjective before her name?
Badtrash is an adjective that refers to movies. My question concerns a movie, so I put the adjective before the noun "movie."
I believe this is correct syntax.
It would make no sense to call her any adjective, she is a kid.

9. Sometimes yes, sometimes no... |

Look around this board enough, and you'll find derogatory comments about famous people added to the ends of their names often enough.
And, while I agree that it would be despicable to insult a young girl who had been through a horrendous ordeal, I fear I've seen enough callousness on this board that I wouldn't be too surprised to see someone direct insults against an apparently straight-laced teen from a well-off, suburban, Mormon (and thus almost certainly conservative Republican) family. I mean, we've all seen some of the venom directed against Jenna Bush on this board, which I doubt you'd see if, say, Howard Dean had a daughter who behaved in the same way.
And, by the way, I've never seen "Badtrash" (as a single word) used as an adjective for anything. My initial thought was that you were appending it as a new, additional name for the girl, and that it's meaning was something like "white trash."

6. Its a made for tv movie about a sensational news story about a blond teen |
|
How could it be anything but trash?
Sunday night trash movies are a proud American tradition, and I reserve the right to both watch and condemn them.
