OK, is Adult Swim trying to kill away all its non-Anime programming???
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 02:19 AM by northwest
Here's what I've deciphered from their constantly-changing schedule in the past 10 days:

(All times Central)

Monday-Thursday:

10pm CST-Family Guy
10:30pm CST-Futurama

(11pm-1-am CST-Anime crap)

Sunday:

10pm CST-Big O Anime crap
10:30pm CST-Brak Show
10:45pm CST-Aqua Teen
11pm CST-Sealab
11:15pm CST-Space Ghost
11:30pm CST-Mission Hill (for some reason, came back this week)

(12am-2am CST-Buttloads of more Anime shit)

OK, that's 16 hours per week of Adult Swim, and 5.5 hours of it is actually quality programming that is NOT Anime. (Rant coming)

I remember back when Cartoon Network would have a SEPERATE Adult Swim for Anime programming, and that would be at a totally different time than the Adult Swim that had the good shows on. About 30 percent of total Adult Swim programming was Anime. That seemed pretty reasonable. After all, not many people like that crap, right?? OK, good. Then it went up to 40%. Then half. Then 60%. Now it's almost three-quarters of it. Well, I'm fucking sick of it. I fucking HATE Anime. I think it's pointless, stupid and not understandable. I heard all sorts of good shit about FLCL (an Anime show that I THOUGHT I would like), so I watched it, and I couldn't understand a FUCKING DAMN THING THAT WENT ON. Why saturate the rare time Cartoon Network sets aside for more mature FUNNY shows that garner very high ratings, and instead fill it up with crap that no reasonable person who's not constantly on drugs could understand???

I think it's REALLY sad. Adult Swim used to be one of the few things remaining that I could watch on TV. (End rant)

I don't want to boycott Adult Swim, but if the other shows are an indicator, and that leads to Aqua Teen being cut off the schedule, then there would be no problem with me doing that, because there wouldn't be anything interesting left on there.

Fucking Anime. My brother absolutely LOOOVES it. I think it's crap.

Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 09:41 AM by 7th_Sephiroth
its not all supposed to be funny, have you been that disney-diluded that your brain cant accept a cartoon show with a good plot?

And on edit

Home movies was crap, its the slowest, most boring cartoon EVER, its just a little brat ranting animated TERRIBLY, UPN dropped it before they dropped thier good stuff (shasta mc nasty, dilbert gary and mike secret agent man) The reason for the terrible animation style and dry plot is cause it was made to counter the popularity of Dr. Katz a cartoon show about a psycholigist where all the lines on the charaters jumped around wildly and it was dry psychological humor.

5. Speaking of which...
what happened to Family Guy tonight? They finally ran the last episode of Big O (which I enjoyed thoroughly) but I was expecting to see that next week.

6. They will show it next week
It is the one Fox refused to air right? I remember seeing a commercial that Big O was to be tonight and Family Guy was to be next week during the same time as Big O.

8. I don't mind the Anime, however
I liked how it was just recently, with Anime starting at midnight (central).
I would like to see more Home Movies, more Mission Hill, definately some Venture Brothers (they had one episode), and some new Sea Lab.

12. Venture Brothers
should get a season's worth of episodes starting in Feb 04

Last I knew another 13 new episodes of Home Movies were in production. The halloween episodes that aired last weekend was definitely new.

Sadly Mission Hill went out of production in 1994 or something so 13 or so is all the episodes there will ever be.

9. I feel your pain
I absolutely HATE adult swim's schedule. They have changed it hundreds of times, it seems, and it gets worse every time. Home Movies is my favourite show on there... and they seem to be trying to kill it. Everything gets moved around so much, I don't know when anything is going to be on. And I hate having to look through the tv-guide ... especially every week, considering how frequently they change things.

I like some anime, as long as it isn't dubbed. I won't even watch dubbed shows, as I've hated every single one I've seen. But, apparently, reading subtitles requires a degree in rocket science, so Cartoon Network doesn't show subbed anime.

Just keep praying~

10. So now Home Movies is completely gone?? Crap.
That and Family Guy are actually funny, whereas Futurama is sporadic at best.

...and BTW, dittoes* on the anime rant, northwest.

*Can we use "dittoes" now that Rush is 'indisposed'? :D

13. don't know what you mean by not-understandable
even Furi Curi (FLCL), as weird as it is, starts making sense about four episodes in, and that's one of the more redeeming features. I have grown to really like Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop. While I never warmed to Big O or Kikaider, I appreciate that they are on.
