Anyone Doing Nanowrimo this year?
I am just curious, as I attempt to meet my word quotas for today and catch up from slacking off this weekend, if any other DUer was participating in Nanowrimo] (National Novel Writing Month) this year.

Anyone to commiserate with?

1. I'm not but it sounds like a serious challenge.
Are you supposed to attempt to write a novel in a month? I don't know if I'm capable of doing that at all let alone in a month.

2. Not really a full novel
just 50,000 words, which would be a kind of skimpy novel.

This is my second year attempting it. It works out roughly to 1,666 words a day, which isn't too bad, except when you miss days or take your writing time to read and post on DU.

3. I'm in this year
It's my first year participating. I made a thread about it a few weeks ago, but nobody else seem interested. Seems like I've finally found at least one other, though. :)

Right now it's going pretty well for me. I have 5,654 words and the story is shaping up better than I thought it would, even though I have no title yet, or even anything more than about four characters in some silly little backwater town.

I'm trying to aim for 2,000 words a day to give me some leeway later in the month.

Or just to finish early

6. Keep Going!
I'm hovering at 3,000 words and I don't have a title yet either. I need to take a night and hack out 5,000 just to give myself some leeway. I did that last year, but by the end of the month I had written myself into a corner.

4. "The Monkey's Nightmare" has begun! " Only 47,000 words to go.
This is my second year. Last year I did "Shboom" which was basically my childhood with about a dozen murders thrown in for a plot. I swore I would never do it again as its just so stressful plus I got backaches, neckaches, etc. from pounding away on my old laptop but a woman at work said she was going to do it and I thought, what the hell, so I'm off and running. Wish me luck - the plot sickens...

5. Good Luck
I'm off to a slow start. I did prep work this year, so I had a direction and I decided to do a genre novel to keep a focus. When I actually set myself to write, I do okay. But for some reason, I've written more on DU than ever before.
