2. I've been a Pink Floyd nut since the early 70's |
|
My daughters, both in their 20's, used to just sigh and roll their eyes at my taste in music but over the years, they kept gravitating to my room when the Floyd came on. Both of them now really appreciate the genius and were both psyched that they reunited for Live 8.
True genius transcends time. People still appreciate Mozart, after all.

4. one slight criticism...waters came in too early in "money" the scratch |
|
track of the cash register had to be turned off.
Not a big deal, but I'm a professional musician, I love pink floyd, and I just notice those kinds of things.
Otherwise, the show was FUCKING AWESOME! I only hope there's enough interest generated to spawn a world tour!
Oh, and re: future generations?
Pink Floyd's music and musical genious will live forever!

10. Also stated that David Gilmour will give his money |
|
from the generated record sales to charity..didn't want to profit from Live 8. "HMV said sales of Pink Floyd's album "Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd" had gone up by 1,343 percent since the weekend."I plan on being one of those customers.. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1607289

11. They were absolutely, jaw-droppingly fantastic |
|
Imagine, a group that hasn't played together in almost a quarter of a century getting together and knocking those old songs out like they were brand new. Waters, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason hit the songs like they were performing them live for the very first time. It brought tears to my eyes. This type of coordinated musical talent just DOES NOT EXIST these days.

"Breathe" "Money" Roger Waters gave a touching tribute to Syd Barrett... then "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb"
The whole performance would give you chills.

Perhaps only Green Day rivaled them in the passion department, though not in musicianship.

It was worth it just to see smiles on Dave's and Roger's faces |
|
It was like they were channeling their younger selves from the '70s. I know they appreciate each other's musicianship, and it absolutely showed.

|
They've been my favorite since I was 11. :hippie: Comfortably Numb is, to me, the ultimate song of all times.
I went to see Floyd live in the early 90's. It was rather cool and it drizzled most of the time but we didn't care--they were awesome!:headbang:
