Follow-up re: creepy email from my dad -- I replied to him.
"I was thoroughly grossed out that you sent me this. Please don't send anything like it -- nudie (mild though it may be), ageist, or sexist crap -- in the future.

"I didn't find it to be appropriate father-daughter fare. Let's stick to Grandma updates, vacation schedules, flying stuff, political stuff, and the elephant in the living room, okay?

"Thanks, Dad.

"Love, Kim"

1. What is this? Junior high school?
We can't even discuss what the heck the conversation is about? Are we so immature?

2. The site has rules.
I broke one of them yesterday and got a thread deleted. I am not about to get this thread deleted too, because people who were interested yesterday will be interested in the follow up.

Okay?

3. Well, I assume it was deleted because it was taken out of context
Edited on Wed Jul-06-05 09:05 PM by Kraklen
I mean we should be able to post vivid descriptions of anything, assuming that it's for the sake of an intelligent conversation.

I mean, we can't go around saying "nigger," obviously. But if there's a relevant reason to be saying it, for example a discussion of the famous painting of the little black girl during desegregation flanked by national guardsmen with the word "nigger" scrawled in graffitti in the background, then I think any sensible moderator wouldn't just delete that. I mean, the rules are there for the sake of productive discussion, not just to be draconian.

4. No, it was deleted because I broke a rule.
Edited on Wed Jul-06-05 09:06 PM by bertha katzenengel
I posted a cartoon that showed a woman's bare breasts.

edit to your edit: and its deletion wasn't draconian.

I. Broke. A. Clear. Rule.

Period.

5. I must have missed that rule.

So the cartoon had a picture of a woman with bare breasts. Anything else? What was the punchline?

6. Drop it. I am.
Or maybe someone else will weigh in for ya.

I'm going to bed. I don't have the energy to split these hairs tonight.

:hi:

9. That sounds like something totally inappropriate
to be sending your daughter (you). BTW, if the cartoon showed something as indicated in the posts here, I am glad it was deleted. I mostly view this from work, and don't need something inappropriate coming up on my pc.

10. It's not a valid excuse, but frankly I was so freaked that he sent it to
me that I posted it -- seeking comment -- without even thinking. Once it was deleted I had a huge "duh" moment and was extremely embarrassed. It was just a .gif image of a doctor smacking the knee of a nude woman with exaggerated breasts, one of which jumped in "reflex." It was stupid, completely unfunny. But worse, it was sexist as hell, not to mention ageist (because it was prefaced by "I hate getting old.").
