What foods are non-controversial?
Since veal is bad, foie gras is barbaric and chicken is frowned upon by the moderators, what foods won't start an argument? Please suggest a non controversial, yet savory and delicious, dish below.

Double bonus points if you provide the recipe

but they waited until after you'd "gone home" to make Soylent Green out of you.

It's not like they were just grabbing people off the streets and butchering them.

Well, except for the Soylent director who figured out what his company was making...

OK, I said it wrong. The density of salt in the oceans is going down. Your 20 liters of water is less dense in salt than your 10 liters of water. So we need to pour all our Morton's into the sea, not on our tofu.

Pizza Hut franchise using Galaxy soy cheese in 44 stores

* 03 October 2002

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne, a franchisee of 44 stores in northern Indiana and western Ohio, is now offering a Lite Bite Menu using Galaxy Nutritional Foods' Veggie Mozzarella.

Orlando, Fla.-based Galaxy Nutritional Foods (Amex: GXY) is a producer of plant-based dairy alternatives for the retail and foodservice markets.

The Fort Wayne franchise company is the first in Dallas-based Pizza Hut’s system to use the cheese alternative, called Veggie Mozzarella. According to a release, the cheese is saturated fat-free, cholesterol-free, trans-fatty-acid-free and lactose-free.

"We've spent considerable time and energy to find a great tasting product that allows our customers the freedom to enjoy our menu items, while cutting their calories, saturated fat and cholesterol," said Ralph Wilson, director of operations of Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne, in a release.

62. Kitten -- the other white meat
5 2-lb kittens
cider vinegar
vegetable oil
mustard powder
garlic

Swing the kittens by the tail, and dash their skulls on the countertop to stun them.

Submerge them in boiling water for one minute, then peel their skin off.

They should be dead by now, but if any are still gasping for breath, dunk just their heads in the boiling water again, until they stop twitching.

Clean the entrails from the kittens. If any try to bite you, they weren't fully dead. Removing their internal organs will solve this problem.

Combine other ingredients into a marinade, and marinate for 4 hours.

Then toss in the smoker, and smoke for 6 hours at 220 deg F over hickory, basting with marinade every 30 minutes.

71. I don't know about barbaric, but foie gras is just plain gross.
Non-controversial? How about oatmeal? Good old-fashioned oatmeal?

I don't know, though. That might start a fight between the long-cooking and quick-cooking factions, the old-fashioned versus instant factions, and the maple syrup versus brown sugar loyalists.

Better stay away from oatmeal.

Chocolate chip cookies? No, that will start fights too: Milk chocolate or semisweet? Nuts or no nuts? Butter or shortening? Half butter/half shortening? Chewy or crisp? Eat dough or don't eat dough?

It would get ugly very quickly.

99. Look for 'certified humane' labels
http://www.certifiedhumane.com/index.html

<snip>
What is the Certified Humane Certificate Program?
The Certified Humane Raised & Handled program is an inspection, certification and labeling program for meat, poultry, egg and dairy products from animals raised to humane care standards. The program is a voluntary, user-fee based service available to producers, processors and transporters of animals raised for food. The purpose of the program is to provide independent verification that the care and handling of livestock and poultry on farms enrolled in the program meet high quality humane animal care standards.

What do the standards require?
The Animal Care Standards require that livestock have access to clean and sufficient food and water; that their environment is not dangerous to their health; that they have sufficient protection from weather elements; that they have sufficient space allowance in order for them to move naturally; and other features to ensure the safety, health and comfort of the animal. In addition, the standards require that managers and caretakers be thoroughly trained, skilled and competent in animal husbandry and welfare, and have good working knowledge of their system and the livestock in their care.
<snip>

Too bad the USDA didn't set such standards ?

They fall naturally off their vines/trees so there is no killing of anything involved.

Save your seeds and you can plant more, which means you are contributing to the renewal of the resources.

No controversy there. :thumbsup:
