My buddy stuck it to the man today
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 08:13 PM by HEyHEY
I waited in the car....

He went to his bank to cash some savings bonds. The bank said they couldn't cash them there because it was not his branch. He said, "But I have a savings at ths branch, and a chequing at the other."

The woman said, "It doesn't matter we decided that because you mostly use your chequing account that is your home branch."

He told them "His Branch" was closed today and there was no way in hell that he was going to have stood in line to not get his banking done (he took a day off work for this). The woman said HE SOULD KNOW better than to try to bank at the wrong branch, but she would see if see could cash them.

So, she cashed them.
Then he said, good....now withdrawl all my cash and close my accounts I'm leaving this bank. He said she looked so shocked he almost laughed. Then he walkd out and is opening an new account somwhere else. Good for him I say!

1. Good for him indeed!
I love hearing stories like this -- people actually standing up for themselves and refusing to do business with companies that treat them like doo-doo.

Banks are notorious. They think they're doing us a favor for taking our money for their inflated fees. $2 for a phone call my ass.

Glad someone stood up to them.

6. Actually he's going with PC bank
No fees except 75 cents if you want an account printout. 2.6 per cet interest every thirty days. And if you use another teller, yes you hae to pay for it...but then you get points towards grocerys.

7. Do you guys get
the double ATM fee?

If I get money from a random ATM (all except washington mutual) I get charged 1.50- 2.50 service fee.

But then, Bank of America charges me an additional 2.50 for the same transaction!

I end up paying 5 dollars for a 20 dollar withdrawal! I still get charged the 2.50 even when using a free washington mutual machine!

10. I did something similar a few years ago
All I wanted to do was get a bank check for something, and the clerk was just being a brat -- I don't remember specifically what the deal was, but I was definately in the right! :-) . This was a local bank that I'd had my account in since I was 5 years old. The teller had been there for years and was rude everytime I dealt with her (which was frequently, as there were only about 3 tellers -- the joys of a small town.) So I decided then and there to close the account. Walked across the street to the other bank with a big wad of cash and opened an account there.
I used to work full time in retail <shudder> so my tolerance for poor customer service is set really, really low. I'll just take my business elsewhere, even if it costs me more.

12. I'm not so sure thats legal...
I think there is a law that a bank is required to honor their own checks. I've never been charged by a BOA personally (I cash my student loan checks there every semester). On a side note however, the bank i thought would be the first to screw me (BOA) has been the best bank I've ever had an account at.
