Newport county - big tourist area in the summer.

I have a cat. I named him Buckshot because I thought he was vicious, but he turned out to be a pansy. I don't hold it against him, though. :P

8. We got 'em in the winter
actually, starting October 1 through April 1. The darn snowbirds -- people who can't drive but do their best to clog the roads. But hey, they pump money into our economy and keep the local Wal-mart afloat.

What work do you do? I teach.

13. A bum!
I'm without a job right now. I'm going to a local community college and basically biding my time until I have the opportunity to transfer somewhere decent.

Every now and then I work for my father, who runs a nursery/garden center around here. Very laid-back job, not bad at all.

16. I had been meaning to register for a while...
I lurked on GD for a good long time, then drifted over here to the lounge, which is where I started posting. There wasn't really one specific post that I decided to register for, I just figured it was about time I got in on the action! :D

My first post? It wasn't too long ago - in fact, it's still on the first page!

15. Good question!
I used to read loads of horror novels when I was younger - Stephen King, Dean Koontz - but I've sort of grown out of that.

I've been sticking mostly with textbooks now that I'm back in school, but I read Catch-22 recently, and thought it was a riot.

I've not read much horror (other then the newspaper), but I use to be a huge fan of science fiction. I almost just ordered J.G Ballard's new one on-line.

Best film I've seen recently is, without a doubt, Kill Bill.

I saw James Brown play Newport when I was a kid and Sly Stone too many many many moons ago.

David Peel and the Lower east side were playing up against the wall motherfucker in the woods and the croweds stormed the walls for a free concert and all night rave. People were balling in the woods and in the grass.

Man that was heaven. I was 14

22. Sounds awesome!
That was way before my time - nowadays, we have to go up to Providence or Boston to see any decent shows. I hear a lot about the jazz festivals they still have in Newport, but haven't had a chance to check any of them out yet.

If I remember correctly, Bob Dylan came up here not too long ago. I should have been paying more attention to that, it may have been a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Interesting - I had no idea the name was Armenian. It was also the name of a Roman emperor - and, I've been told, an Italian scooter.

Go figure!

39. Studied the Roman Republic and Empire
in a Western Civ course in high school. Took an interest in it, for some reason. As for choosing this name specifically, I'm not sure why. The most notable thing about Vespasian - so far as I know - is that he restored order to the empire after the reign of Nero, one of Rome's worst emperors (burn Rome and blame it on the Jews, anyone?).

But, why choose a dictator? Well, I'm a nerd who's wasted more hours than I can keep track of playing Civilization and plotting to take over the world. So, in a way, it's fitting. :D
