1. I think it's from Team America |
|
What would you do If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom What would you do If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice
Would you think about all them people Who gave up everything they had Would you think about all them war vets And would you start to feel bad
Freedom isn't free It costs folks like you and me And if we don't all chip in We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free No, there's a hefty fuckin' fee And if you don't throw in your buck o' five Who will?
What would you do If someone told you to fight for freedom Would you answer the call Or run away like a little pussy 'Cuz the only reason that you're here Is 'cause folks died for you in the past So maybe now it's your turn To die kicking some ass
Freedom isn't free It costs folks like you and me And if we don't all chip in We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free Now there's a hefty fuckin' fee And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five Who will?
You don't throw in your buck 'o five Who will? Oooh buck 'o five Freedom costs a buck 'o five

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
I watched the flag pass by one day It fluttered in the breeze A young Marine saluted it, And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, With hair cut square and eyes alert, He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil? How many mothers' tears? How many pilots' planes shot down? How many died at sea? How many foxholes were soldiers' graves? No, freedom is not free.
I heard the sound of "Taps" one night, When everything was still. I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times That "Taps" had meant "Amen," When a flag had draped a coffin Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea, Of unmarked graves in Arlington. No, freedom is not free.

3. Freedom isn't free... you have to work hard for it.... |
|
it is hard work being true to your duties as citizen... informing yourself of the issues, being an activist, volunteering, etc. but the conservative ideology likes to distance the average citizen from the idea of ultimate citizenship and, instead, replace it with some far-removed mythology of the the warrior-estate... as if the fight for freedom is on distant battle fields and not a constant, daily fight waged here at home by average citizens coming together and doing something historic.

ours is bought and paid for in the blood of our fore fathers. so why are we spending our blood to hand it to iraq free? how come the bush bumpersticker bearing yellow-ribboners cant anwser that?
iraq threatens our freedom as much as vietnam did, and we fucked up there and we were doin fine until bush came along.

7. of course, like anything else |

if you have the right connections, you can eat for free and get somebody else to pay. You work, I eat. If it was not for Reagan's decisive action, we would all be speaking Grenadese today. And today we have soldiers bravely defending us from Saddam's nukular weapons, I mean spreading democracy so we do not have horrible terrorist attacks that add as many as fifty casualties to the 150 who died in car accidents today and the 1400 who died of heart disease today. And I do my part too - I know where my duck tape is.

8. Just stupid freeper speak |
|
An inane phrase they can repeat to make themselves feel important and justify constant warfare (hence the need for our tax money to be funnelled to the war machine forevermore).
:eyes:
It's like that bully who lets you give him your lunch money for the "freedom" of not getting beat up every day. "Freedom isn't free dude".

9. Oh how I love when people pull that line out.... |
|
..and I ask them exactly how they pay for it if it isn't free. They usually don't want to pay higher taxes and they don't want to join the military. So what price do they exactly pay for this item that isn't free? They usually do not have an answer.
