For a band, I consider that fairly old. They've been around longer than I have.

Hell, Trent Reznor is a year or two younger than me...he came to a couple of our high school parties.

I remember seeing Trent "back in the day" at a few gigs he played. He wasn't who he is now. I remember him with chicken hair and that 80s thing going on.

42. I saw an interview with them in the 80s before they broke |
|
Before Anthony Keidas was a member(I think)and a local TV station was doing a story on them from the storage garage they rented to jam. They said that they had played so loud that the other bands there had left and that they werent interested in a record contract or selling alot of records.Great band even if they did change their minds.

They have gone through a lot of personnel changes, but then that is the nature of their progressive music. The core of the group, however, still remain.

Deep Purple still sounded great. Ian Gillian's voice is still as great as ever. He hasn't lost his chops in his "old age". I know they still tour although they haven't put out any "hits" in quite a while.

They had a bit of a rough patch, bubt the new album ranks up there in their catalog. Granted, it is a fairly narrow niche they have going--but they are the best.
In a way the Ripper Owens years were kind of cool because I got to see them in a club--and not just another arena. Ripper is a hell of a singer, too bad Glenn Tipton forgot how to write songs for Owens' two albums. And now it's too bad Owens hooked up woith that right-wing nut from Iced Earth :(

saw them a few weeks ago. what a set, what a performance. i saw them years ago and they rocked then, they were even better this time.
if you ar a TP fan try to get a ticket for this tour. they are touring without a new album, so the playlist is all classic TP only two new songs all night. the set was all "greatest hits" including Travelling Wilbury songs. He said they are releasing a new album in december.

I saw them last summer at the Santa Barbara Bowl. I never would have bought tickets, someone invited us the day before, tickets on them. So my husband and I went and I cried thru the first 3 songs. It was very emotionally overwhelming. It took me back to being a 10 year old girl hanging out with my 3 best friends listening to Chicago on the record player, dreaming of future loves and losses.
So here I am over 20 years later listening to Chicago in person, holding the hand of the love of my life.
But, beyond the sentiment, the band ROCKED!
