1. I sold a car on ebay
It's great if you need cash and want to make a quick sale. It's bad if you want to get the most value from your car. I probably undersold mine by 2000-3000, but I wanted to sell it fast. It went for what similar cars were going for on Ebay at the time.

5. Those are popular
if they are in good shape. Econo cars are popular now, obviously. Ebay charges a variable rate that come out between 80 and 100 dollars, usually, depending on selling price, and the options in your ad.

4. I sold my Chrysler minivan on Ebay, and got about a thousand more
than I expected.

It depends on the car, the condition, and on your location. If you are in the south, a lot of times you can sell it for more on Ebay than you could locally. There is a demand for southern cars (no rust) and prices are generally higher in the north than the south. A guy from Washington state bought our van, down here in Austin.

There are two types of shoppers on Ebay. There are the bargain hunters hoping to bid low and win, and their are those looking for somewhat hard-to-find items--or at least hard to find in their area. That's why southern cars do well. Also, diesels and hybrids.

Take a lot of pictures, give good details, including the bad stuff, and people are more likely to respond.

I sold another car (also a van) on Autotrader.com, but it took a lot longer, and I didn't get what I wanted.

Got about what I was asking for it, it's another good (and free) place to put an ad up if there's one local to your city...
