Saw a string quartet playing at the subway station this evening. |

It was the coolest thing. There are frequently really talented buskers at the subway stations around here, but this is the first time I've seen a string quartet playing at one.
They all looked to be about 20ish, so they were probably music students trying to earn a little extra cash for the weekend. What made it really special was that there was a crowd of about 30 or so people gathered around listening, applauding loudly at the end of each piece. The musicians were smiling and grooving on the fact that their efforts were being appreciated. If you'll excuse me for sounding like a hippy, there was great energy there. Made my day.

1. Only cool transit systems allow buskers |
|
Boston's central transfer station, Park St, was the best place to hear music any day, any time. Violinists were common but I never saw a string quartet!

I would love to see that and I understand your excitement. We need more of that out there.
