My daughter is the coolest person I know |
|
Both my daughters, I should say, but this is about my oldest.
Tonight my 12 year old asked if I knew the address to the White House. "Sure, it's 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," I told her. She wanted to mail a letter to Bush. I told her she could just email one, and she said she didn't know how to email pictures. "What pictures?" I asked.
She wants to take pictures of the homeless, and people on street corners begging for money, and mail them to Bush.

Make sure she sticks with it. Maybe she's old enough for DU even?

7. She's not a good student |
|
But she has an amazing ability to understand people. Her third grade teacher gave her an award once before the whole school, and said she was the sweetest kid she'd ever met. She's had several teachers say much the same thing--that she was the most perceptive child they knew, they she had a sensitivity and wisdom about people that most adults didn't have. Even in first grade she was known for handling difficult situations well--showing compassion without letting anyone walk on her.
She struggles in school, but it would be hard to be more proud of her anyway.

James Dean was cool. Brando was cool. Elvis was cool. The Beatles were cool. You are probably cool. The Eagles were cool.
Take it easy, man. Child adulation isn't the best path.
