2 down, 1 to go
What a night.

The developers were surprised my film hadn't come back yet and apologized. :grr: I hope it arrives tomorrow...

I saw gas prices. Sweet Jesus, they're up to $2.39... though Satan had more to do with that than Jesus...

Got to the bar at 6PM. I opted to play darts... This was a mistake; I quickly remembered my poor depth perception and balance (I've been tested; my inner ear balance mechanism is shot for one thing and the specialists eventually gave up...)... when finished (the machine wanted more money) I gave up and then noticed 8 people (in a room full of ~130) were staring at me and not with lascivious glances either. :wtf: Well, that's a 30 minutes I won't ever do again.

I then decided to make the most out of this experience and booze it up:

1 Raspberry kamakazi shot. A very week yet tasty shot.
1 (24oz) Liney's red. A reasonable beer.
1 Drambuie, straight up. Reasonable portion for the price and, damn, he mixed a good one. I know where I'm going tomorrow!

Tempted to have one other drink, whose name is bizarre and often spouted by sexist pigs on this site as a means of describing * supporters (though epithets pertaining to the female sex would be a little more accurate...) Anyway, the ingredients are butterscotch schnapps and Irish creme. You look it up; I'm not in the habit of freely mentioning rude names...

By now I'm feeling quite buzzed and sat back to enjoy the scene. Very weird people; including a young guy and an old woman staring at me for some reason?! Mother and sons now go to bars together?! Noticed what the others were doing, enjoying the music, and for a wasted bastard, still managed to get 90% of those pointless bar trivia questions correct.

Approximately 2.5 hours after that I felt normal again (9:50) so I went to the other bar. For a drunk worthless loser, I spotted TWO people who had left the other one. :D I had a MGD. Re-sobering by 10:39 I left for home...

There's always tomorrow; the final day. After that, as with personal ads, I'm stopping the bar scene. It's all a joke, really...

1. I'd suggest either an internet cafe or volunteer work
Many progressives have hooked up doing volunteer work. Local dem party, Habitat, Nature Conservancy (although I don't volunteer for them anymore, long story), Hiking and trail associations, biking groups, etc.

I always thought of bars as a place to have fun, not to pick people up. And a place to pay too much money for warm beer in a dirty glass that manages to smell of soap regardless.

2. Time is of the essence.
That's all I can say. :D

I will try a Mpls-based coffee shop with shitty parking facilities tomorrow. I expect the same results.
