8. Well, from what I know...

Andy had pancreatic cancer, but DU raised money like 50k. Then some republican came up with a website to say that the Andy was a scam. Republicans went so far to make it harder to process his account through paypal (just learned that). Andy passed away a couple of days ago.

Andy was working with the controversial Bev Harris of blackboxvoting.org on the election fraud. As I recall, Andy was fired (or quit) and there was a big stink regarding that and how Bev was spending the money donated, and such. It was pretty ugly... then Andy was diagnosed, adding injury to insult.

Again, I'm not steeped in it and I may be 100% wrong. Please feel free to correct me, but please don't flame...

I have been keeping out of those strings too and post sparingly though I have been a member a long time.

I suspect that there are those among us who have a driving need to be front and center on GD and frankly I think that was the reason for that string in the first place.

18. I think sensitivity is badly needed here...

When I find myself in the middle of something horribly tragic that I don't understand, but which has obviously inflamed passions, I hope I would not inject myself in the middle of it. Going off to the side, so to speak, (which in this case equates to doing a search of threads to get the background or at least coming to a forum outside the heated discussions to ask) would be the way to avoid this.

With respect and understanding for your hurt feelings, dhinojosa, this is not about you. I hope you can understand that and not try to make it about you.

People are going to attack you from time to time no matter where you post on DU. It's just the nature of message boards I think. A lot of people say things in anonymity that they would never say to someone in person. I've probably been guilty of that every once in a while, too.
