I'm trying to be discreet here...but a question.

When Andy was released from Johns Hopkins and a few days later developed a fever...why didn't his surgeon and Johns Hopkins immediately re-admit him. How did he end up in another hospital "Virginia Mason" was it?

Having had some major surgery myself...I know that my physician would have had me admitted immediately after I went home and developed a fever. I wouldn't have had to go to another hospital for treatment...but would have returned to the original doctor and hospital where the surgery was performed.

I only ask this, because it seems to me there's some kind of "medical questions" about the treatment Johns Hopkins gave Andy if he wasn't followed.

I didn't want to put this out in another forum and am trying to be "low key" by putting this in the Lounge.

But, if anyone can help me understand why Andy was foisted off on another hospital after so much money was paid to Johns Hopkins...Please PM me on DU.

I don't want to start some damned "Flame War" over this post. :-( I'm probably not as up-to-date as many of you on what happened with Andy's surgery...so that's why I ask for PM and not comments.

1. Virginia Mason is in Seattle

Andy lived in Seattle. Johns Hopkins is not in Seattle. They just did the tricky business and then sent him back home to his regular physicians.

My confusion was over the hospital named "Virginia Mason." That's a name from Virginia...and I assumed it was a local hospital outside of DC that Andy was admitted to. Thanks for the extra info.

2. He was released from Johns Hopkins....

spent a week with a friend and then returned to Seattle two weeks after the surgery.

The fever spiked a couple weeks after his return home and he was hospitalized.

3. Do you know if his original surgery team was consulted

about the "post-op complications?" Thanks for the info. I thought that his fever developed sooner than it did.

I didn't follow the aftermath closely because I thought Andy was going to come through and so didn't get the "timeline" about the fever correctly. Sorry..
