Floyd: David Gilmour's nose hairs almost ruined it for me. |

I finally saw the Live8 rerun on MTV today. Caught most of Floyd's set. They were great to almost transcendant, especially when they really got into the groove on "Comfortably Numb".
Memo to David Gilmour though: please trim those gnarly nose hairs before a show, big guy. Those close-ups were hell. Ol' boy had the nose hair from hell goin' on, and the camera just couldn't resist giving us a bird's eye view of that sucker. That nose hair just jumped off of the screen and right into my living room. I thought that it was going to take a turn on vocals there for a minute or two. Waters could have plucked that baby out and used it for a spare bass string if he had wanted to.
Maybe instead of a reunion tour, he could get Roger to give him one of those handy grooming kits with the little clippers or something.

1. Oh, great. Thanks a lot! |
|
I hadn't noticed that the first few times I've watched the performance, but now I suppose I won't be able to avoid thinking about it when I watch it again...

2. THis is why we shouldn't embrace HIGH DEFINITION TV.... |
|
I didn't notice on webcasts... But, I don't think anyone can be blemish-free on those enormous wide-screen high def pics!

I didn't notice the nose hairs (I finally watched it too today)
They sounded really good... but I am SO glad I didn't see those nose hairs lol
I listened to those guys when they were in their hay day so the whole thing was a little surreal for me...I refuse to admit that I look anywhere near old enough to have heard them the first time around! ACK!

6. Interestingly enough, Waters looked like he..... |
|
....was really enjoying himself up there. I was amazed. He was clearly into the music and playing to the crowd. It was nice to see.

Flat-screen. Good picture. Even my wife said something about the hair. She looked at the screen and said "Oh my God. Is that David Gilmour? What's up with that big-ass nose hair?"
Look at it closely the next time you watch it. It's really prmoinent early in the set, when the camera does a lot of panning right into his face as he sings. I really noticed it on "Money".

9. I guess I was listening more than watching. |

"Wish You Were Here" had me in tears with all that's happened this week.
