Poll question: Have you ever had a water bed?
I did when I was a teenager. I kept the temperature cranked to 100 degrees - it was like sleeping on a hot water bottle.

4. Yep
When I was a kid..

Then my dad used to have one too and he used to forget about it when he was filling it up. Then he'd discover it and the thing would look like it was about to burst. :o

7. Got rid of it.
Too heavy for the upstairs bedroom, and more trouble than it was worth.

9. My ex-husband and I did years ago.
It was soft-sided like a regular mattress so you couldn't tell it was a water bed unless you sat on it or lay down. Finally took it down after the second leak.

10. I had one in my early teens...
But then one day a thumbtack fell out of one of the posters on my wall and ended up popping the mattress. It was a sad day. That was a comfortable fucking bed.

14. My wife just made me replace ours
about two years ago.

She got one of those futuristic mattresses which cost thousands of dollars instead.

Not that I'm bitter.

16. Wife and I had one when we first started dating......
It was hers. We moved in together after about 6 months (gotta problem with that fundie lurkers?). I found it difficult to uh...well...let's just say i prefer doing the deed on a normal matress. Sex is 9/10 leverage.

18. True story....
All my lif I want a water bed.
I'm thinking, hey if the lady's know I have a water bed, I'm in like flynn. So I finnaly get up enough money to buy one. Went all out. The pedestal, the bookcase, king size, the works...

I'm also drinking heavy at the time...

So I bring the thing home to my second story apratment. Two kids from the Waterbed store come to help me set it up. We don't have a hose. So i go out into the bosom of suburbia, looking from house to house to find a hose. it's early spring so not that many people have houses out. We finnaly find this one and lug it back to the apartment.

By this time, I had a half bottle of Jack in me, more than a few beers and about three or four joints, just for good measure....

So I hook the thing up and start to fill it.....

As you can probably guess, I passed out. My apartment mate passed out. the guy from the waterbed store who decided to stay and smoke pot passed out.

But the water kept running....

So all of the sudden, I hear this banging on the door...

"What the fuck are you doing in there"

The Italian landlord is pissed. I hear water. My aprtmanet mate runs to open the door. I head on down the hall to my bedroom, and I hear sloshing as I hit the carpet. Not a good sign...

So I get to the bedroom and there is my brand new water bed. On a lovely pedestal, looking like that cake from the Our Gang series that keeps pulsating like it was alive or something.... Twice it's normal size....

And the hose, well it had been pushed out of spigot and was dancing around the room spewing water every where....

So, Long story short....

I turned off the water, plugged the hole and spent a bad hung over day cleaning up my mess......
