My parents have been alienated by my Freeper brother
My folks live on the other side of the country. They've driven nearly 3,000 miles with my oldest nephew to visit my Freeper brother in Alabama, and I was supposed to meet them all next weekend, a trip I was dreading. They arrived at his house yesterday at noon. Well, they just called me this morning at 9 AM EDT to ask if they could come to Atlanta "for awhile". It seems they've already had enough of his freaking religion and creepy in-laws. They're going to drive up to Nashville for a few days while Dennis goes away (we're expecting him to cause a lot of rain and some wind damage here) so they'll be here late next week.

:bounce:

I am so excited! We just moved, so the house is a mess, but my folks are coming! Yay!

2. Nah, it's okay
We've never been close. He's gotten kind of pompous and hypocritical, so my folks are excusing themselves rather than argue with him in frong of his in-laws and sons. It's a good ting, really.

3. Sorry to hear about your brother. I'm estranged from my brother too.
It's very sad. I just don't know what to make of him these days. It's not so much politics as his wife who is a spoiled, rich girl bitch who has cut all contact with her own father and brother. My bro doesn't call us or visit us anymore after his marriage. It was 5 years before he would let my mom babysit her only grandchildren.

I'm glad that you can visit with your parents at your new abode. How's that cute puppy? I loved your post about how horrible you are to it! ;)

Have fun with the family. We are awaiting the rain here in Athens. I hope we don't get much. All of the rivers are at flood stage. My friends house on the Apalachee River may be on an island if it rains anymore.

:hi:

6. It's really your brother's loss, CottonBear
I'm sorry for that, it's really a shame. In my own situation, I don't let it bother me, but it does bug our mom.

Puppy's good. Tender, too! Our new home is coming together great. My folks' visit is well-timed because my father is the ultimate DIYer and there are a few small projects that we could use some help on. Yes, I have ulterior motives! The best part of it all is that they're bringing about 10 pounds of wild-caught, quick-frozen Pacific salmon with them!

We were in Auburn, AL yesterday with Will's family and coming back we saw a lot of folks from the Mobile area (you can tell based on the tags in AL). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.

8. Hi Modem Butterfly!
My in-laws live in Lacombe, LA north of New Orleans and I am so glad that they are not in the direct path of the hurricane. (Mr. CottonBear is from New Orleans.)

I'm glad your puppy is OK. I miss having dogs but I can't have them now.
We have 1 child, 3 cats and a horse not to mention the tropical fish aquarium and the goldfish pond. NO MORE PETS for now!

I hope that all of your family in AL and Mobile are OK. My mom's family lived on the gulf coast. My grandmom would head inland from Gulf Shores with a suitcase and all of her picture albums during the hurricanes (remember Frederick)!

4. My freeper brother, who was in the military for 20 plus
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 09:08 AM by ikojo
years, has cut off all ties with the family over a mis-directed e mail. My mom received an e mail from him, and thought she was forwarding it but had hit reply instead and it went back to him. She had made a comment that was more directed to my sister than him but he took it personally.

Oy vey!

5. I Hope You Have An Enjoyable Visit...
... and so-WHAT if the house is a mess. At least you have a good excuse for it being cluttered and untidy. Any other time, you'd have to make up some OTHER clever excuse for everything being in disarray.

7. I wonder how your brother justifies to himself that your parents
needed to bail less than 24 hours after seeing him.
