Anyone ever do the eHarmony Test? |
|
Just curious. Do they suck you in to some sort of commitment by offering a free personality test and then you can't get results (or some other gimmick) unless you actually register and become part of the sheeple brand of computer dating?
That seems to be the way that most sites like that work online. I remember when "tickle.com" was "emode.com" and you would get all kinds of great results and tests without enduring popups, ads and other nauseating commercialization.
Sort of like the Scientology guys!

I took it yesterday for fun. The test sucks. It asks you to rate yourself in a bazillion categories. They say 20% of the test takers are unmatchable. There aren't really strings attached but it does set up a profile. I think it declared me unmatchable because I was too honest. I would have at least figured that there are some profiles out there who are looking for a very shitty relationship. Lord knows some seem to seek that out.

5. I think they declare you unmatchable if you are a Liberal, or a Democrat. |

I've never tried it, but I had a a few friends that paid for the service and were never matched up with anyone. They each said it was important that the person share their Liberal beliefs.

6. I kind of suspected this. |

The personality profile asks a lot of religion questions.

http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2005-05-18-eharmony_x.htmWarren started out marketing primarily to Christian sites, touting eHarmony as "based on the Christian principles of Focus on the Family author Dr. Neil Clark Warren."

I went thought the eharmony profile about 11 months ago. It takes about 45 minutes to complete, and asks a lot of detailed personality questions.
When I was done, I got a message saying, essentially, "We're very sorry, but we can't find a match for your personality type. Please do not spend your money on our service. Good luck to you!"
I laughed about this for months.
It didn't tell me anything I didn't know. I'm a tough match.
I found something on my own, anyway. :bounce:

8. Some of us are a bit quirky and overwhelming to most of the world. |

:hi:
Like I said, we're all wacky in our own ways. It's just about how the wackiness matches up.

any of them, and often no communication is made either. I'm surprised, because I'm a very non-mainstream person. I'm a white woman, and they've even matched me up with a number of black men, a couple of Latino men--it's not a racist site as some folks here have assumed.
