My hubby makes fun of me for posting here. |
|
I call it "saving the world."
"What are you doing, honey?" he asks, as he walks by my office.
"Saving the world."
"Snort"
"Yeah, if it weren't for me and DU, you and I would be sitting in some steel shack in Eastern Colorado sweating our asses off."
"Snort"
I don't think he appreciates my work.

10. Yes, he's just an utter technophobe. |

Who has no idea of the power of this medium.
He's just a bit behind the times.

4. Does he make fun of you for being so up on the latest developments, |
|
political and otherwise? Is he surprised how much you know about what's going on? Or do you talk to him about it?
I found that that was a definite benefit of posting here on DU. I also find that I'll just talking away about the latest crime committed by the BFEE, or about something like Posada Carilles trying to get to stay in this country, or even something like the sex ring operating in that crazy church in the south somewhere, and I'll just get blank looks from people constantly. They won't have the faintest clue on what I'm talking about. And when I tell them they're really surprised that they've missed it. This place is your one stop shop for all the news and current events.

11. No, he's impressed with what I know about events. |
|
And how I know about them about a MONTH before he reads about them in the paper. I think he's getting more convinced that it just MIGHT be worthwhile. But he's not there yet.

And it's beginning to sink in with him. I was up on the DSM AND Rove's Plame connection - that impressed him.

8. Mine loves that I DU often. Gives him time to read in the other room! |
|
Of course, he charges in here when he hears me laughing hysterically. He finds much of the Lounge Lizards to be very inspiring.
And over time, he has turned off FAUX and CNN cause if he wants to know the REAL skinny, he asks me what the evilDUers have found out. And he has been taking info I pass along with him when he chews the fat with others.
heh heh, He is my stealth weapon to win friends and influence people in my little red county... We be makin progress!

Some people are pretty damn funny on here. And the cartoons and flash anims some people make are just killer!
I definitely hear news first right here on LBN. I've passed on some good tidbits that he then hears about later in the paper or on the MSM.

20. The fact that I was getting news and passing it on to Havocdad 2-10 days |
|
before he saw it in MSM (or, sometime MONTHS) made him a believer in DU! And he is pretty critical and a real skeptic about everything.

Just kidding.
When my husband is being a smart-ass, I ask him "what are ya doing?" and he says "negotiating world peace." Hell, he's got to be doing a better job than Chimpy McCokespoon.

It just feels too weird to me to be carrying on all these separate conversations where the other people can't see what you're saying.
It's like having 10 separate conversations while at a party, but no one can hear what anyone else is saying.

...The last time I did someone asked me if I liked group sex..(!)...I'm thinking, 'Gee, I'm no prude, but :wtf:' So I stay away from that.
I think the next time he says anything I'll give him the URL and have him check it out for himself. My luck, it'll be sex-thread, chicken lover, 'you-all-hate-me-I'm-leaving' flamefest, and he'll REALLY get an eye-full!

25. my bf calls du "your commie site" |
|
but he is only joking. he picks on me when i come here from his computer and asks if he is boring me. i have bookmarked the site and i wonder if he checks it out on his own when i am not there.
i read him funny things and show him the cute animal postings and he is always interested so i know he is full of sh** about the commie thing. and as i tell people, i am not a commie, i am more of a socialist.
