1. No.
Your addiction to huffing butane makes you a bad person.

9. Not an elititist
I've just always found their music so dreary and the band so sullen.

16. I used to love 'em as a kid.
When I was 10, my favorite song in the whole wide world was Wish You Were HEre.

Repetition via media, however, has killed any enjoyment I might glean from their output in the present tense.

29. Wow, you were so advanced.
A real appreciation for the nostalgia, sentiment, remorse, self-loathing, etc. associated with that song and other Pink Floyd, did not really strike me until adolescence and every year came a deeper appreciation. After a very good friend of mine killed himself last year after "kicking around on a piece of ground in hometown" for ten years after high school graduation, I have even a deeper appreciation for them. God I love those lyrics.

2. No--because other than The Wall and Wish U were Here, I tend to agree.

I respect them and all, and it was great to see them reunited and great to hear my fave tunes by them....

The Who is way cooler.

I hate all of their songs. I guess I can respect the fact they've been so popular for so long. But I just never got it.

11. I *saw* The Wall, and liked the tunes (and some of them at that) because
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 11:21 PM by tjdee
of the film and thinking of them in that context.

Heard another album by them in college, thought it was the most boooooooorrrrrriinngg thing I've ever heard. Second only to Phish in its complete irrelevance to my life, LOL. Same here, just never got what was so special about them.

But I do dig The Wall and I can play Wish You were Here on guitar. Now that is a perty tune.

somehow... missing out on what is good in the world of art and expanding your mind to embrace the creative possibilities of the universe that was created by the ultimate creative mind in which we share consciousness.

10. I've expanded my mind a lot actually
Chemically and through art. But I've always felt like art, and particularly music, is subjective.

20. You had to have been 15 years old during the 70's
been convinced your parents were aliens, a stoner and a weekly acid dropper, cozied up to a pack of razor blades when things weren't exactly going well (like you got beat up everyday after school), had an eating disorder, ate quaaluds like they were M&M's and sniffed glue.

I loved Pink Floyd.

25. I was 15 years old during the 70s, and I've never liked Pink Floyd
All my friends loved them, and would drive around for hours with the car windows open in freezing weather, smoking pot, listening to Pink Floyd, while I was huddled under a blanket in the back seat just trying to survive.

33. The only people I've met in real life who hate Floyd
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 12:10 AM by expatriot
are people with very thick rose-colored glasses. My mom despises it, she calls it "nightmare music." Floyd is probably not in my top ten list of groups but they are definitely in my top 50. I have to log off now so I don't have time to verbalize it. But to answer your question... I don't think not liking Floyd makes you a bad person but it might mean you're a bad person if you think they suck ass.

34. Blasphemer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My image of you has been totally destroyed. ;-)

Seriously though, Floyd is a love 'em or hate 'em kind of deal I guess. I happen to love their music. I was not really a fan of The Wall; it struck me as being something like what _Oliver!_ would have been had Dickens been into hardcore psychedelics.

35. That puts you in great company here ...
With the other gratuitous haters of things ....

GREAT Floyd songs:

1) Fearless ...

2) Wish You Were Here

3) Comfortably Numb ....

So: If hate makes you feel great, then hate away ....

Heck, why not ? ... right ? ....

Why spend time praising stuff when you can spend it DENIGRATING ART ?
