I wish my *local* newspaper was local
It's owned by the New York Times. Howell Raines ran the thing in the seventies, I think. While the NY Times is certainly better than the Washington Times, I want my paper to be local.

You have a choice of investing in a phone line and and an ISP, a shortwave radio or your local paper.

But local newspapers are still quite influential, at least among the older folks where I live.
