3. Well, on average... let's see... I've had 7 computers over the past
20 years (excluding any PCs for work). So, I guess every three years. Last one I bought was this past January.

4. I have been using the same computer for six years
A Dell Dimension 350 running Pentium II. Still runs pretty good.

I hoping to upgrade next year once I get my finances taken care of.

6. Probably about every three years.

I always build my own. Just put this latest one together about a week ago. I'm still tinkering and fine-tuning it.

7. I've had Frankenboxes since I first started collecting
hardware fifteen years ago. Non-pyschos (people who don't have closet dedicated to a pc boneyard) I would recommend a new machine every 3 -4 years.

8. I radiate a powerful electro-magnetic field that destroys electronics..
I have to replace them on a regular basis. My Sony Vaio laptop, however, has lasted for the past two years. I just got a new one at work, however. It was about 3 years old.

10. I usually stick to a 6 to 8 times speed increase

So around 4 to 5 years.

Depending on money.

I'd love one of those new dual-core Athlon 64s, but my machine works fine as it is, so I'll save the money for when I need it for something more important.

And I build my own, so I have upgraded things like the IDE controllers and new Hard Drives. Still running a gForce3 (original spec) with zero gaming issues. But then, I don't play hardly any games anymore.

12. I've been considering one of the dual-cores myself.
I have a socket 939 mobo already, so upgrading to the dual-core would be a simple upgrade (I'd have to reinstall XP to take full advantage though).

11. Depends.
I usually don't replace the whole computer. I replace bits and pieces (CPU, Motherboard, etc.).

I'm about due for another CPU upgrade, but have plenty of memory, hard drive space, etc.

I may consider picking up a new CPU in the next few weeks.

13. never/constantly
I'm a nerd and keep upgrading/fixing as I need to.

The last time I got a new motherboard and processor was last year. However, I did salvage stuff from my old machine before I built the current beast. Before that, the last time I upgraded processors was 1999. However, I continually upgrade audio/video, storage space and RAM as I can.

My office looks a bit like Dr. Frankenstein's lab because of this.
