Soak them in a tub with plenty of baking soda (two huge handfuls) and water as hot as you can stand it. They seem to itch half as long when I do that. :)

Did you squish the offending skeeter before he came back for more?
I have about 5 million (OK, I'm exaggerating a wee bit). I tired a new repellent that was more of an attractant. I think it was like pouring ketchup on a french fry.
