Turbulent political times produce great political art, firing up the imagination, feeding the sense of outrage, sharpening the expression of irony and illuminating the creative process.
In the spirit of the turbulent political times in which we now find ourselves, Democracy For America-Marin is proud to present The Art of Politics, a celebration of political art in its many forms and functions. The show will be held Sunday, September 25 in the large tent at 2330 Marinship Way in Sausalito, California.
PARTICIPATION: Participation in the art show is open to every type of art form: paintings, posters, sculptures, jewelry, fabric, photos, music, mixed media and cartoons, T-shirts and buttons. All art must have a political theme.
JURIED: The Art of Politics will be a competitively juried show and artists must submit samples of their work for consideration. An application along with samples must be submitted no later than August 15th. Samples may be jpegs or an artist's website. See Application information below.
NO ARTISTS' FEES: There will be no fee for the artists participating in the art show and artists may keep all proceeds from the sale of their art.
DISPLAY: Artists who are accepted will be assigned a 4ft. x 8ft. display area and will be responsible for all of their own display materials: booths, tables, etc. Those who wish to display only one or two pieces will be assigned to a group display area. Artists must sign a waiver acknowledging that DFA-Marin nor any sponsoring group will assume any liability for loss or damage to artwork.
FUNDRAISER: Aside from celebrating great political art, The Art of Politics is a fundraiser for DFA-Marin. There will be a $10 general admission price, $7 for DFA-Marin members and $5 for seniors. DFA-Marin will keep all proceeds from the sale of admission tickets and food concessions.
