Gotta tornado headed this way. #2 in the last three hours.
Tornado reported tracking NE out of Oconee County, SC, into Transylvania, NC. I've got the super-cell on my Accuweather RadarPlus. The leading edge of the line is 3 miles away. The potential tornado is still 30 miles away. Tornado now NNE of Toccoa, Ga.

1. Got t-storms rolling in and out of here all day. Had a rainbow for a while
Just tried to go for a walk and BOOM! I scurried back into the house.

You be careful with those twisters!

2. I'm shutting down the weather and ham radio station. Lightning too close.
I'll be back when it's over. The dogs and I are going to the basement.

5. Okay, I didn't pay attention at all in NC History
Where is Trans... County??? I'm over here in Richmond County about 75 miles east of Charlotte in NC. I'm terrified of thunderstorms and especially tornadoes as I live in a trailer. Even an F1 would turn me over and make computer using very difficult. How would I post to DU if my computer was in Kansas? Or Oz for that matter???

I'm :scared: No kidding. I don't like thunder at all. Even a small thundershower makes me really really nervous. Somebody hold me until it's over. Please???

:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

7. Transylvania County is south-southwest of Asheville.
Brevard is the county seat. I am in the SW corner of Transylvania, near Lake Toxaway.

8. Please don't take this the wrong way, but
at the moment, I am actually GLAD we don't live closer to one another. I DON'T envy you right now.

Although, I do wish you lived closer to me and we were BOTH out of any danger of bad storms, especially those twisters, altogether. That's better, isn't it?
:pals:

Please be safe. I wish I had a basement, but I've never heard of one being built under a trailer, aka "a tornado toy".

10. I understand perfectly!
This was not nearly as bad as Ivan last September. A tornado during that night-from-hell downed 15 trees on my mountain property. I did hear one go down tonight. A neighbor told me that he had several trees down from the late afternoon tornado that came up out of Pickens County, SC (we are right over the line in NC).

BTW: The famed Blue Ridge Parkway still has over 58 miles closed because of damage from Ivan. People just don't understand how bad last September's hurricanes affected the NC mountains.

6. All clear!
It was bad. I think the tornado passed about 1/8 mile west of me. I had trees bent over near 80-degrees. At one point it was raining 6.5 inches per hour! I passed the warning among my mountain through our phone tree. It is an idea I got from my union's family awareness committee.

9. Dennis, the gift that keeps giving ..
More on the way. The orographic lifting along the southern escarpment of NC is what is making these storms so damn bad. Know what I mean, Vern?

11. Gonna get clobbered again! Lookee at what Georgia is sending us!
Severe line redux: Coming in from west of Toccoa again. Just like the last tornadic line.
