I want a woman.
This was a reply... but why not repeat the advertisement?

I'm 38 (but look 30), never married, minimal emotional baggage, one year from completing my PhD. I love sports, movies, classical music (and I will sign to you or play the piano for you... ah, Chopin...), and I'm trained Southern gentleman; e.g., I open doors and pick up the check. And how's this for a range of talents: I can cook, I can do laundry without ruining it (yes, I know what fabric softener is and I know not to put bras in with the other "delicates" or in the dryer), I can change the oil in the car, and I can do tilework/caulking/basic plumbing. I love to make people smile or laugh... I have a great sense of humor. I have no distinguishing scars. I am 6 feet (1.82m) tall. Black hair, fair skin, light brown eyes with gold highlights.

What's the catch, you say? I just have horrible timing. I can never seem to meet the right person at the right time. To be brutally honest, I am also overweight. Not grossly so - I have a large frame that hides a lot.

But why not end on a high note? I'm very monogamous. When I fall for someone, every other woman in the world disappears... and I'm loyal after that initial rush fades.

6. Want more?
Wash whites with hot water.
Wash colors in cold water.
If you absolutely have to mix the two, do it in cold water.
If you leave clothes in the washer after washing for too long, they'll sour, especially with fabric softener.
If you forget to put the fabric softener in, simply turn the washer to the final rinse cycle and put it in.
Always check the lint filter before drying.
Anything that is over 60/40 cotton/poly should be hang-dried.

See, I hate coin laundries, and I don't have enough money for dry cleaning, and I like to be self-reliant.

You know more about laundry than I do. Thanks for the tips.

If it's any consolation, my husband was 49 and never married when we met. Hang in there and don't get bitter - sounds to me like there's a woman out there really hoping to find you too. :-)

9. very impressive
but Chopin? Not Tschaikovsky, Beethoven, Clementi, Kuhlau, Mozart or Bach, but Chopin?

And are you signing or singing? What range? I am a baritone. That is, a tenor who can't hit the high notes or a bass who can't hit the low notes.

18. "sign" - lol, whoops! Sing!
Yeah, Chopin. I probably had more affinity for Chopin than any other composer, followed by Debussy and Scott Joplin. I used to be able to play all three movements of the Moonlight Sonata (and yes, the third movement up to speed). If there are any three pieces that I'd love to learn, they'd have to be Debussy's Arabesque, Brahms Intermezzo in A, and Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte.

I sing tenor. I've taken some vocal lessons, but getting the diaphragm down and vocal cords relaxed and soft palate up comes and goes. When everything's working, my range goes from the A on the bass clef to the A# above middle C. When not, it's from the A to the G#. If I really, really worked at it, I think I could get up to the C or D.

Not grossly......

First question a woman should ask is can you see your shoes....

Second, when was the last time you saw your ding-a-ling without having to bend over.....

So can you be wishy washy monogamous.......

Nothing wishy-washy about the monogamy. When I say I'm committed, I'm committed. If I want out of a relationship, I get out... but I don't see anyone else until I'm out.

That a person of great gifts would have to alter their physical appearance to have one of us? I was married for 19 years, my entire adult life. I'm so far out of the loop still I can't even see the darn thing. Are we really that superficial in mens eyes?

on the flipside all guys arent pigs only interested in looks/sex, but by many women, all are seen as such.

but why are there so many superficial people on both sides? because thats the way we are by nature, pick out the alpha male and the most fertile looking female for the breeding of the strongest genes. its biology. and unless one tries to fight it, or learn to look past it. they dont.

31. I don't know
It would still depend on the person, don't you think? I know of a few women who would be considered beautiful by many peoples standards, who are currently very happily involved with men who would qualify as overweight. That's why I found the suggestion that you should alter your appearance to find love shocking. It struck me like telling a woman she should buy breast if she wants to find a man. Sure, she'll get lots of men, but will she want them? Do yo see what I mean?

35. I actually prefer an "overweight" man....
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 02:54 AM by Vektor
to a thin one any day. I just find it more attractive. I have NO desire to see a set of six pack abs. (Unless of course if has a nice layer of fat over it!) :-)

In my opinion, what most consider "overweight" is perfect for me. I am already married, however. My husband weighed in at 223 recently - and is dieting to lose weight, which is his prerogative, but I like him big. He has lost over 20 pounds, and while I feel proud of him because it's what he wants, I love him at any size.

I'm 98 pounds, and have always loved men who are "thick." Most of the guys I dated in the past have weighed about 225-250.

I don't know what you weigh, but a good woman - the only kind you want to waste your time on, will love you the way you are.

26. I'm a stammering mess half the time too
I'm funny though, so women like to hang with me after class and so forth. But when I have to act serious, the anxiety kicks in.

Women love a little compliment. Just be genuine about it. Don't be afraid to tell them they look nice etc. It's a good beginning because they automatically, like you just for being genuine and nice.

I once told a girl who always wore the color red, that I thought red was a good color for her. She just fell apart in front of me. Totally melted. So much so that I didn't know what to do, haha. I was like...uh, um...okay well,...uh... see you in class on thursday.

Sometimes, you can be too charming. It's rare, but if I can "forrest gump" my way into it any guy can. :) Just don't make 'em melt too much!

I won't relocate until I'm through with my degree, and then I've got to go where the jobs are. It's both a blessing and a curse for me to be single; it's a blessing in that I can go wherever I want, but it's a curse in that I have to go alone.

It's routine to me. I don't like shrunken shirts, pink underwear, scratchy clothes, or sour towels, so I learned how to do it right. I'm just happy to have my own laundry appliances instead of having to go to the laundromat. I still have this leftover urge to save quarters.

I had a load of underwear and socks stolen one time, and laughed about it until I got into the store and realized how expensive it would be to replace it all. Then it wasn't funny at all, although I suppose if someone needed clothing so badly that he had to steal a load of underwear, he could have it.
