What are the rules re posting song lyrics?

The Rules and Regs on Copyrighted material say this:
"Don't post entire copyrighted articles. If you wish to reference an article, provide a brief excerpt and include a link to the original source. Generally, excerpts should not exceed three or four paragraphs."

This does not seem to address song lyrics, though. You are not posting the "song" itself, including the music (i.e. an MP3). It seems that posting only the lyrics would not violate the copyright rules, especially if you listed the artist/songwriter.

I believe I have seen entire lyrics to songs posted here often, but I wanted to check because I want to post a thread or two that involve posting song lyrics.
