More true confessions on the Internet.
Since Bouncy Ball posted about grouphug.us, I thought I'd post about NotProud.com. I discovered grouphug.us a long time ago and thought it would be the best confession site I'd ever find, but now NotProud.com is my favorite. Well, second favorite. Maybe it ties as my favorite with this site:

PostSecret.blogspot.com. That's the best. I've submitted several confessions to that one, three of which have been posted. One of them is still visible on the site, actually; it was put up within the last few weeks. No, I won't tell you which one it is.

1. I dunno . . .
I found a lot of the confessions a sad statement about how we as human beans treat one another.

2. Magnified by the fact...
...that some people take great amusement at the painful secrets of others.

3. I don't mean to hijack this thread . . .
but I totally agree with you, gmoney. When I've wronged someone, I make amends directly with that person, and wouldn't dream of "confessing" to it on an anonymous website. (There aren't really any "anonymous" websites, anyway.) I dunno, that website made me a little sad.

4. Many of the secrets on these websites are harmless,
charming, amusing, hysterically funny, and beautiful. I swear.

But I recognize that some posters here may have gotten turned off by the godawful, disturbing, cruel, gross, horrifying and sad confessions viewers may have to slog through before coming across anything worth feeling positive about.

5. I'm not turned off
I just feel bad for folks that have something in their lives that they can't divulge to anyone they actually know, but that's eating them up inside. I've been there, so maybe I'm overly sensitive and sympathetic. But I think the nature of these types of confessions is always going to be dark and sad -- something positive hardly needs to be confessed anonymously.

6. I agree....
I found postsecret to be an interesting thing, though, to see people's true selves, pretty or not. I have one of those secrets that eats you up, and there is an appeal to being able to 'tell' someone...

7. Honestly, when I did it with my secrets? It helped a little.
No, I can't claim that it has yet made me revolutionize my entire life, but I am starting to deal. That's something. Just FYI.
