23. I really think so, poor kid.
This is what you get for being a fan of "Accordian Man", hanging out at McDonald's and not being allowed to use the eff word.

11. First, the correct spelling is ja, sure
instead of yah sure (I know the OP doesn't use this--but it's simpler than answering EVERY follow up)

And much m ore importantly I can't believe I hadn't thought of that!

and literally this was my first actual:spray:

17. Very appropriate, because...
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 08:17 PM by kiki
...the central theme of that film is lies and honesty.

Jerry Lundegaard is a walking essay on lies and evasion; he tries every trick in the book. Wade is alarmingly honest, particularly about the lives (and lies) of others. Steve Buscemi is too honest - and basically talks too much - to be a crook, and thereby comes to grief. Peter Stormare is honest by virtue of the fact that he never says anything - "Hey, I never said I wouldn't stove your head in with a shovel and put you in the wood chipper."

And to accentuate the theme, they bring in the fantastic character of Mike Yamagida - a hopeless, pathalogical liar.

24. Another perfect post.
Perfect. If you had 4 hours to spare we could analyze and dissect this movie. And Marge? She's an idealist's dream, isn't she? Throwing herself full-bore into battle while 7 months pregnant. (Do you remember the restraint she uses at the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet?)

26. I forgot to mention the real clincher...
...which is the fact that the movie's opening statement - "This is based on a true story" - is a big fat lie. They're some clever chaps those Cohens.

Anyway, don't get me started. I could talk shit about movies for England. I've already written an essay on The Shining that could've been five times longer than it was if not for the word limit. I could give you 2,000 words just on the symbolism of eggs in the French movie Harry, He's Here To Help.

I'm very sad.

28. LOL! We can be sad & pathetic together!
Once, I killed a Richardo "Fargo" thread by getting carried away. Can you imagine? I found myself all alone in the thread but still having a blast!

Oh, my friends had to tell me it wasn't based on a true story. I fell for that easily and never bothered to look it up.

29. Well if you think about it...
...Buscemi's character is the only person on the planet who could've possibly known that the money was buried, let alone where it was buried. And he's unlikely to be very talkative where he ended up.

Apparently lots of people went looking for the money in real life, but I think that's a bit of an urban myth. Which could be exactly what the Cohen Bros wanted...

(Saw someone else had put the "darn tootin'" quote. Thought this quote also captures the Jerry/Scotty connection).

William H. Macy's got the gig. Which is a good thing, because I believe William H. Macy should be in EVERY MOVIE.

31. Maybe the Coen's could give us a humorous take on this whole BushCo thing
We'll need the laugh by the time this is over.

John Goodman as Rove, obviously. Leon Russom, the Malibu Police Chief from "The Big Lebowski" could play a good fascist, and Peter Stormare (Karl Hungus) could play Guckert. :D I wonder who Steve Buscemi and John Turturro could play?
