Anyone ever take a Dude Ranch vacation?
Mr. Patiod & I are thinking of taking one in Wyoming. I ride, he never has (but he's game). We both love to hike.

Any experiences you could share?

1. Nope, but I've always wanted to.
Since your mister hasn't done any riding before you should probably find ranches on the flats. A couple of years back, we did a ride in Wyoming - 2 hours of up and down mountain trails and it was brutal! I ride, but not like that and was pretty sore afterwards, but basically OK. My mother (69 and fairly arthritic) was nearly crippled by it though.

We absolutely LOVED Wyoming! Gorgeous! We went in the last week of August and it was already feeling like fall. Most of the tourists were gone by then, too. Added bennie - cell phones don't work worth squat outside of any town. Talk about getting away from it all! Fantastic!!!

3. Thank you for the info!

We'll let that guide our selection (esp. since I haven't ridden since I was a teenager). Now I'm worried that the two of us, who compare aches and pains after every major workout, may spend the whole time bitching about being sore.

They're giving discounts for late Aug/early Sept, which sounds perfect, since the S.O. is NOT good with heat.

This is one of the few things in life I've dreamt of, and haven't done.

4. Expect warm days and cool nights in Aug.
It can snow in early Sept. It snowed the second week of Sept the year we went.

I found the link to the resort where we stayed - http://www.togwoteelodge.com/

Nice place and nice people!

2. I once had a Nude Ranch invitation...
But the complaints about raw hides made me decline.
