Stephen King Finishes 'Dark Tower' Series
BANGOR, Maine -- Stephen King had some good news for fans, so he delivered it in person. Sort of.

An animated "virtual" version of the horror writer appeared Monday on his Web site to announce that he had completed the final three installments of "The Dark Tower" series, which have been long awaited by fans.

"People have been asking one question above all others over the past nine years: When are you going to finish `The Dark Tower'? Well, guess what -- it's done. So do me a favor and spread the word," he said.

1. Thanks Kef
Will pass the info on to my son, he's been waiting for the next book to come out (I think it's this month). I'll pass the link on to him.

3. So does that mean he's going to stop writing?
I remember reading somewhere that when he finishes Dark Tower, he will be finished writing.

Say it isn't so!

4. He may have a few little things to finish up
But it is true. I guess full-time writing has become too painful for him since the accident.

5. His sight is very bad
and that has contributed even more to it than the accident - he says in the introduction to "Everything's Eventual" that he even wrote to distract himself from the pain, I believe. And I seem to remember a show where they interviewed him where he said that his eyes were just going to the point that he wouldn't be able to write anymore.

6. His sight's *always* been very bad...
Even years ago, he had glasses the approximate thickness of Coke bottle bottoms.

Besides which, blindness never stopped Milton from writing. I doubt Steve will ever quit writing, mostly because writers always have one...more...idea, and partially because 1) the last couple of times he's said he was done with something-or-other, there've been two or three more parts (I'm thinking "Castle Rock stories" in particular), and 2) there are lots of computer accessories available to help blind people write using computers, and he certainly has the money to set up a full Dragon speech-recognition system.

11. luckily you are wrong on that Dr...
http://www.stephenking.com/pages/faq/faq.php#blind

Is it true that you're going blind?

No, I'm not. I have a predisposition--and it's a genetic thing--to macular degeneration and that's a disease you can read about on the internet. It eventually results in blind spots and a loss of vision but I don't have any of the symptoms yet-just that predisposition and I think it's something that I may have to face in the future, but, no, I'm not going blind.

Also on the site it was cool to see he also plays guitar in a rock band....

9. now i've got to reread all the other books in the series!
not like it's a bad thing, but when it's so long between books, the details get a little fuzzy...

13. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON RE-READING THE SERIES
Make sure you have the up-to-date editions. I seem to remember that's he's "updated" the first books in the series (like Michael Moorcock did) so that the whole series would fit together better.
