AFTER THE TERROR: RELIGION IS SLAMMED Jul 12 2005

MEMBERS of the controversial Scientology religion have been accused of taking advantage of desperate families.

A group of believers have handed out leaflets to relatives near bombed underground stations, asking them to pay £3 for booklets on handling a crisis. But passer-by Emilina Black complained: 'They are trying to speak to vulnerable people at a particularly devastating time.

1. Of course they asked for money, the Scientology doctrine prohibits
helping people for free.

4. They did hand out pamphlets for free at Live 8
which pissed me off because 90% of them ended up the same place the distributed Chick tracts went - tossed on the ground

5. But at Live 8 they weren't trying to "help" you but trying to recruit you
there's a difference :) At least the way they play it there is.

2. These people are shameless.
I can't believe the government isn't stepping in and doing an investigation of this "church". If I were FBI, based on the things I have read about financial and criminal issues that the COS is responsible, I would like to look into the matter.

3. They had SOME KIND of dirt on the IRS...
I don't know specifics. But they got their "tax exempt status" because SOMEONE knew SOMETHING about SOMEONE, and they threatened to go public with it.

That's not tinfoil hat stuff, it's backed up by any of the "Scientology scholars" you'll find via "Operation Clambake."

They pulled the same stunt after 9/11...rushed right down to Ground Zero and handed out pamphlets, the difference being those were "free."

6. Not only that, but they got that status AFTER Hubbard's wife and several
others were convicted of breaking into IRS buildings.
