Poll question: 70's Movies: Was JAWS a scary or a bad movie?
I saw it last night and was just curious. At times the shark looked fake but I was startled a few times. So was my bird. :)

i just watched it again a few weeks ago & realized how tight the whole production is...

3. best to watch it on dvd... the 2.35:1 makes a world of difference
spielberg did a lot with the panavision

i still think it's the best thing he ever did, considering his budget at the time & the gamble universal was taking... these days, budget, marketing & cgi guarantee his success

4. Well he did a great job then......
:) He must not have had a large budget, and it is kind of thrilling in places.

7. I saw it at the theater
when it first came out. The scene at the beginning where the girl gets killed in the water scared the h*ll out of me. I started shaking and didn't stop until the next day.

12. I kept seeing
that girl getting yanked under the water for a second and her eyes darting back and forth trying to figure out what was going on. Oh--I'd better stop. I'll have nightmares tonight.

10. Anyone who votes "Bad movie" simply has no taste
"Jaws" remains the pinnacle of escapist cinema, just as "The Godfather" is the zenith of film drama.

11. Brilliant film
The scene where Quint, Chief Brody, and Matt are down in the Galley and doing some male bonding, where Quint talks about being on the USS Indianapolis, is one of the 5 best scenes in film history..
