Among the writhing legs of drab green blue crabs was an all-white critter -- black eyes staring up at him.
"The only thing that is not white on him is his eyes," said Pyle's dad, Ken.
Ken Pyle, a semiretired commercial fisherman who still helps out his son, said he had never seen an albino blue crab in all his years of fishing. Maybe one with a patch of white or a part of the body that was white. But never totally white.
"We thought it was odd," he said of the crab caught in the waters near Odessa.<<<<snip>>>> The Pyles' albino is a male and still alive. Ken Pyle said it may be introduced to some of the females in the shedding tank as an experiment to see whether they might breed more white crabs.

4. So if a blue crab is white |
|
then he's not a blue crab. Must be hard. I can't imagine the discrimination he would have faced if he hadn't ended up in a crab cake.

7. How weird. I didn't know that was even possible... |
|
I know he's not cooking him. But, I have to wonder whether the crab would still turn red once it was steamed.
