ARGH!!!! I'm so pist @ Amazon right now!!!
I just got an email from them saying my pre-order of the new Harry Potter book is "on schedule". But then they say:

However, please note that we can't guarantee that your
book(s) will be delivered on July 16.

Now, when I signed up for the deal, it was because THEY STATED that it WOULD be delivered on July 16!!!!

Those lying scum!!!!!!!!!

4. WOW! No, I didn't see your post. I was in a blind rage
after reading the email.

I'm really mad. I see I'm not alone, though!

6. Mine was partially my fault for not double-checking the address
previously, but since I KNOW the thing isn't going to ship today, to tell me they can no longer change the ship to address from my work address to my home address is complete bullshit.

3. I learned my lesson with the last book.
There was no guarantee, though.

I waited and waited. The local grocery store had copies to sell before I got my Amazon order.

5. I could have sworn they said it would be delivered on the 16th
If there was a disclaimer, I sure didn't see it, and I read the "ad" pretty carefully to make sure I understood it. I had never "pre-ordered" anything before.

Those bastards.

7. Probably the way the caught you was with their offer for
free "express saver" shipping. You need to change it to "standard" shipping (which isn't free) to get it by the 16th.

I did this, but I forgot to change the ship to address, now they say they can't edit the address even though the damned package hasn't shipped yet.

8. AHA!!!! Those sneaky bastards!!!!!
I ordered a CD I'd been wanting as well in order to get the free shipping, but it didn't give me any warning that the guarantee was then "off".

That's a real sneaky, low trick.

And I sympathize with your problem as well.

I guess they feel they can do whatever, because B&N is so much more expensive (and has less stuff) so where are people gonna go?

10. Last time the book came with no issues.
Like I say, it's partially my fault, but if it hasn't shipped yet, any decent company would still be able to change the ship-to address.

I'll go elsewhere from now on.

11. I seriously considered that, but it's 116 degrees in Phoenix this week
And 150 degrees in the car, and it takes a looooonnngggg time for it to cool down, even with the a/c on full blast.

So I figured, why not get it delivered to me?

*sigh*

15. Yeah, my old Datsun didn't even have a/c. There were days...
when it just didn't seem like life was worth living.

I remember once when it was somewhere around 112-115, I had to drive across town.

When I got home my heart was racing & I felt all weak.
I was laying on my living room floor wondering if I should call 911.

But once I cooled down I felt okay.

16. There is a reason why I will always live in Maine. Heat is a major one
but also we don't have any creepy crawlies I can't deal with.

And Datsuns? Jeez, I haven't thought of those in years! :D

12. For all the hype
while the bookstores were sold out of the last book, Costco had piles. AND they were cheaper. So I'll get mine when we do our regular Costco run on Saturday.

14. I did that for the last book, it was about a week late. Never again.
I will not preorder stuff I want on the day of release from them.
