I really wish there was a way to filter out the child abuse stories. |
|
Every day something is posted in LBN or GD about some asshole parent killing, abusing or torturing their children.
I just cringe when I see those headlines. Maybe I am being overly sensitive but damn...I wish I could just not see them...

1. Reality is harsh though! I hate it too. It is |
|
just sickening. But it is out there and happens all the time.

They're the only threads I consistently block. I don't even want to have read the subject line.

3. There are days when I cannot tolerate anything |
|
having to do with harming children. I cannot read the stories. It's too depressing and so am I.

4. I can't stand to see the titles for Child or Animal Abuse. We hear enough |
|
about it from the MSM on our car radios or cable headlines..I don't know why it's posted here since there's little we can do about it politically, here on this site. But, I guess folks feel we need to see it, in case we somehow forget. :eyes:

5. Abusers were abused as children, need to break the cycle of abuse, but that |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 10:20 AM by sam sarrha
is a 'Liberal' concept and the resolution would be a tax and spend program, and we cant have that..there are rich people that need that money, so the abuse will never stop.. So we will just have to build bigger prisons and get used to it..

6. Yes, in most cases abusers were abused as children. Not always, though. |
|
And about 90% of those who were abused as children DO NOT become abusers. (This is especially ture of those who were sexually abused.) That means that only 10% of those who were abused become abusers themselves.
In may cases, abusers have a personality disorder. At this point in psychological/psychiatric history, there is no treatment for personality disorders.
How about sterlizing all abusers and then sending them to some self contained island to live out their lives as they see fit away from the rest of society. Prison doesn't seem to work unless you lock them up for the rest of their lives.

7. I agree with you, it is said that about 30% of all children are abused. |
|
some more seriously than others.
I was a Juvenile parole officer.. the ilnmates i got to meditate were all parolled within 90 days, some had been there for 6 years and showed no improvement.
i believe that the institutional system is a lot of the problem. i got such good results with my pilot study they they told me to knock it off and i was no longer welcome there.. I was told i had an office in town.
