Anyone Interested In A Photoshop Contest Group? (A.K.A Fark-style)
someone (admin maybe) could post a picture (normal photo) at the beginning of the month and we could all photoshop it and post.

might be fun yes?

1. I think it's a great idea
We could use funny political pictures that are in the current news as our themes!

9. That's cool
I've got almost no skills, but I'd love to see the results. Check out www.worth1000.com for some kick-ass contests, too... Wow.

38. I've submitted 2 to worth so far...
did ok with 'em, managed one jury pick. I just don't have the time to spend 6-10 hours doing up a righteous 'chop on a contest deadline of 2 days. :( Otherwise, I'd love to submit more.

18. MISSION STATEMENT
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 04:28 PM by matcom
The DU Photoshop Contest Group is intended to be a creative forum for people to showcase their Photoshopping talents. Members of all skill-levels are welcome to participate. We would like this group to have some structure and suggest perhaps, a ONE WEEK time in between contests. We would like, at the beginning of every week, for an admin (if possible) to select a current event photo that will be pinned to the top of the forum. Members can then Photoshop the image for enjoyment. Multiple submissions will be allowed.

sound good all?

19. hmmm
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 04:02 PM by DS1
I think we should have one per week, and the winner of each week picks a photo to 'shop'

once a month seems like a long time

oh, and i think if we're going to create polls in the lounge, we should ONLY have one poll of the maximum 10 photoshops. we can bicker amoungst ourselves in the pshop group as to which get there - to prevent countless prelims, semifinals, and finals polls

23. i like the once a week idea
problem is i'm not sure i want to 'bicker' about picking only 10. do you?

i'm thinking if its more structured (i'm thinking fark.com here) it might be cleaner.

any ideas? thoughts?

Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 04:17 PM by DS1
for those "contest" oriented people, if you like a pic, reply to it, don't have to say anything

otherwise it would turn into a total clusterfuck if we got 41 entries two weeks in row

now I'm thinking that it might not be wise for the admins to be officially endorsing the rebroadcast of non-public domain pictures. yes, i'm being a pain in the ass, but.. ya know

21. How about just making it a "Photoshop Forum"
More general, ya know. In addition to the contests, it would be a good place (for PS idiots such as myself) to post tutorials and ask for advice from some of the better PS arteeests.

24. not really my intent with this forum
although i think there is a big need for that too. i'd like to figure out a forum with mostly images and comments on those images without a lot of "clutter"

does that make sense or am i off base?

35. meh.
People pay for Photoshop?

Plus, I wasn't suggesting that people post to get a PS lesson. There are a zillion sites for that. I was thinking more along the lines of tutorials that DUers might want to share for various effects that they'd like to share. Like, I dunno....blood spatter or something. It could all be kept in one thread and out of the way.

But, fuck that shit. The DS1 has spoken. So let it be written, so let it blah blah blah...

36. aw, c'mon. that isn't fair
i personally would benefit from such a forum but think it would be best as a SEPERATE forum.

any questions will likely get lost in all the pic posts (and i REALLY want this to be a pic-heavy forum)

suggest a new Photoshop tutorial group! i'll be the FIRST to sign up!

are we gonna ask folks to vote sheerly on technical merit (ala worth 1000) or on humor (ala fark), or 50-50 split?
