6. 'Lather' was an incredible song... Even at 33 I'm in tune with it,

being something of an 'childlike adult' myself.

Incredibly good, rather...

As was Plastic Fantastic Lover, Triad, most of "Volunteers", and the two known hits from "Surrealistic Pillow" of course...

7. You need this DVD.

It's excellent.

It has the performance of Lather from The Smothers Brothers show with Grace in "blackface."

BEFORE there was Madonna and "controversy / outrage," there was Grace Slick.

It's also a GREAT overview of Jefferson Airplane. I can't recommend it highly enough.

9. AWESOME release! I bought it a couple months back... oh, re: Lather,

AWESOME video. Highly innovative with the video f/x too. Grace in blackface was very unusual as well... I'm wondering, was the Smothers Brothers show racist? (I know "In Living Color" (1990) had a field day doing a couple parodies of that show...)

Grace Slick's intro suggests revisionism over the one drug reference in the song's lyrics but having read up on the band I'm not surprised or would even begin to argue her POV.

5. "Surrealistic Pillow" changed my LIFE...

...so no one feels the rise & fall more than me.

After this song was released, Grace Slick's reaction was something like "Hey, it's a JOB, not ART."

4. Knee-deep in the opportunistic capitalism...

They were cool in the 1960s.

I understand why Grace Slick hates drugs.

But Starship lost its soul in the 1980s... of course, who didn't?
